Either Dwalin or Thorin (I'm not picky) is de-aged to about 4 or 5 in dwarf years and the other winds up taking care of them until the spell/potion/strange unexplained phenomenon can be reversed.
I'd rather the de-aged dwarf not remember their adult life so they can go through the fun of convincing a terrified child that this huge, grumpy old dwarf is actually their very best friend in the whole world. Also some snuggles would not go amiss.
